This is what I am suffering from. It's not just from the baby getting thrush. It is on the inside of the breast. It is extremely painful and can last up to 2-3 hrs after nursing. Every couple of days it flares up really bad and can last all day sometimes. If you have ever suffered from mastitis then imagine that times a hundred and all over the breast. It feels like thousands of razor blades inside going from the nipple all the to the chest and into the armpit and even to the back. To tell you how bad this is I would rather have labor pains induced w/pitocin than I would to have ductal yeast.
I have done everything and taken everything for it. The main thing to cure it is diet. You have to do the antifungal diet. You'll be in so much pain that you'll say it's just not worth eating that corn dog that your child is offering to share w/you or at the bible study where there is chocolate. There is about 15 all natural stuff that you have to take along w/taking Diflucan prescribed by your OB or midwife. Only they will start you off taking a loading dose of 4 pills 400mg of Diflucan and 2 a day for a week or two. If you suffer from this though the Diflucan will be your pain pills and you may have to ask for more pills. If I were you I would ask if you could have 4 pills the first day and 3 pills for at least two weeks after that then take it down to 2 pills then 1 the following weeks.
I also have made the decision to not only supplement but to quit nursing as I heal from this. It has broken my heart but I have the confidence that it can be restarted.I am supplementing w/goats milk until then. I had tried him out on the sensitive formula w/no lactose and he broke out in a rash all over his body and we even took him to the hospital b/c we were afraid of his throat closing on us.
Here is a care guide to also help if you ever get this.
Keep me in your prayers! Thanks!

Praying friend. I am so sorry :o(
I read this on my phone a while back, but could not respond.
You are in my prayers as you recover! I went through this with my oldest son. I actually got shingles during this time and it is supposed to be painful, but I barely noticed it in comparison to the yeast infection.
Cindy P. Is on the anti-fungal diet- if you need to talk to someone about it, I'm sure she'd be glad to help! cindyandmyles@gmail.com
PLEASE don't let this offend you, but I tell you because I have seen this condition in a goat-milk fed baby before:
Goat's milk is high in sodium (like cow's milk) and is very high in chloride and potassium, which makes the renal solute load too high for babies. This can cause gastrointestinal bleeding and can result in anemia and poor growth (these problems are usually undetected until months later). Goat milk is also deficient in folic acid, which can lead to megaloblastic anemia. http://www.kellymom.com/nutrition/milk/milk-supplements.html
I am not offended at all. Thanks for that info. I have some soy formula that I have been alternating w/. I just have heard that soy is really bad now b/c it alters your hormones. Soy is the only thing so far that he can take in small quantities. I just hope the yeast is almost gone so I can start the breastfeeding back. If for some reason I can't get him to nurse again I will pump like crazy to feed him that instead of the others. And hopefully just 1-2 more wks left on my meds!
